Most of the groups that visit our facilities have a wide array of skill levels from the “rank beginner” to the “experienced” sailor. They have included Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Church Groups, School Groups, and even Birthday Parties. The program that best meets these types of groups is our GROUP BOATING ADVENTURE that can be customized to meet the groups goals.
For those groups that are more advanced and specifically interested in sailing we have offered a WINTER WEEKEND TRAINING for High School and College sailing teams (the 2016 weekend is scheduled for January 23rd and 24th), SPRING BREAK TRAINING during the months of March and April for College and High School Teams, and a year-round TRAINING CENTER where sailing teams and groups who want to focus on sailing and skill development can take advantage of great sailing waters using our fleets of boats.
We will provide these programs in 2017 as well.
We have also had groups looking for TEAM BUILDING AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT programs. Sailing is a great activity to build communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Bow to Stern Boating now offers a Training Center for collegiate sailing teams High School Sailing Teams and any other groups looking to practice. It is great for Spring Break, Fall Break, and Summer vacations. Being located in Oriental, the “Sailing Capital of NC”, we provide access to some of the best sailing waters on the East Coast.
Our “open water” near the mouth of the Neuse River is 4 miles wide and regularly sees 15+ knots of wind and choppy water in the spring, Just under the bridge, on Smith Creek and Green’s Creek, is an “Inland water” venue with swirly and spotty winds in wide sheltered waters. Experience all of the common trouble areas with the exception of current.
Our training fleet includes 18 FJs with colored sails for team racing. Each boat is equipped for RaceQs so the day on the water can be reviewed during the debrief. Every boat’s track is stored and can be replayed to analyze tacking, starts, mark roundings and more. We also have many coach boats that provide a stable and fast platform from which to coach. We also have fleets of Optis, and Sunfish, as well as Catalina 22s and Endeavour 32s for fleet and match race training.
With our access to many world class sailors, we can provide land seminars on many topics including starts, tactics, rules, tuning, and protests. Advanced notice is required If interested in taking advantage of these resources.
A regatta with all participating sailors will be planned at the end of the training period for everyone involved as well as others just looking for a regatta. What a great way to end the week and test out all of the things you have been practicing!
Affordable housing, food, and other recreational options make this an unmatched area for an economical and memorable trip. Accommodations include local hotels, rental houses, residents’ homes, small camps, and even large sailboats. Area restaurants can provide private team or large group dinners, or even cater to the Boating Center. Daily box lunches are included in the registration fees. Recreational activities include local bands and open mic night, pool hall, sports bar, a small theater, and many places to just hang out and enjoy Spring Break. For those who have not had enough time on the water, access to Optis, Sunfish, keelboats, and kayaks can also be arranged.

Bow to Stern will customize a program at the Boating Center designed to meet the needs of your group. We can teach any or all of the requirements for a sailing merit badge, fundamentals of small, medium and/or large boat sailing, introduce racing rules and tactics, and/or provide group team building on kayaks, powerboats and many types of sailboats. The programs are tailored to meet your group’s goals and can be a day, week or weekend in length.
While you are with us, you can camp on site or at local camp grounds on the shores of the Neuse river, all while enjoying fishing and other activites after a day of boating. We can plan for you to stay on one of the boats in our fleet at the dock, or you may choose a program on large boats where you spend the night on the boat in a secure, secluded anchorage. If none of those are your style, we can help arrange comfortable land based housing near our facilities.
Please CONTACT US so that we may set up a program for your group.
